The National Automotive Design and Development Council (NADDC) in collaboration with Kebbi State Government has officially kicked off the Argungu Motor Rally 2026.

The event took place on 11th February, 2026, at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium, Abuja, marking the beginning of a thrilling journey showcasing Nigeria’s automotive prowess.

Speaking at the flag-off ceremony, NADDC Director-General, Otunba Oluwemimo Joseph Osanipin, expressed his delight at being part of the event, which forms part of the 61st Argungu International Fishing/Cultural Festival. He commended the Organizers for their vision and Commitment to showcasing Nigeria’s rich heritage alongside advancements in the Automotive Sector.

The Motor Rally features vehicles assembled locally by indigenous companies, including Lanre Shittu Motors, CIG Motors, KOJO Motors, and Mikano Motors. This aligns with the Federal Government’s Nigeria First Policy, encouraging the patronage of Made-in-Nigeria products.

The Rally will traverse diverse terrains from Abuja through Kaduna to Kano; from Kano through Zamfara to Sokoto; onward to Birnin Kebbi; and finally to Argungu, showcasing the capacity and maturity of Nigeria’s Automotive industry.

Otunba Osanipin reaffirmed the Federal Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment’s (FMITI) Commitment to promoting Made-in-Nigeria goods, highlighting the event’s significance in showcasing the country’s Automotive capabilities.

The event attracted several dignitaries, including Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, Honourable Abubakar Atiku Bagudu, and key industry stakeholders.
