JCN Consulting and On The Highway Africa, an industry magazine covering the transport and highway sectors, will celebrate 30 years of consistent highway journalism in Nigeria and Africa with a legacy lecture and anniversary celebration on November 3, 2026.
The event, tagged JCN @ 30 (1996–2026): 30 Years On The Highway, will hold at the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI), Ikeja, Lagos, by 9 a.m.

The celebration will bring together stakeholders from the transport, automotive, road safety, security, logistics, government and corporate sectors to reflect on the evolution of highway journalism and the future of safe and sustainable mobility.
The anniversary lecture will focus on the challenges and opportunities in Nigeria’s highway sector, including road infrastructure, traffic congestion, road safety, emergency rescue services and the country’s transition towards Compressed Natural Gas (CNG)-powered mobility.
The organisers proposed the themes, “30 Years On The Highway: Safety, Security and Sustainability – From Bad Roads to CNG Revolution” and “The Nigerian Highway in 2026: Roads, Roils & Rescue – Auditing Pain, Progress and the Pathway to Safe Mobility.”
According to the management, the anniversary will also feature a special legacy magazine edition documenting three decades of highway journalism and the publication’s contributions to road safety advocacy and public awareness.

Over the past three decades, On The Highway Africa has reported on road conditions, traffic congestion and the experiences of road users, while advocating improved road safety and documenting developments in the highway and transport sectors.
The publication has also expanded its coverage to include conversations around Nigeria’s CNG revolution and the transition towards more sustainable mobility.

Speaking ahead of the celebration, the Publisher and Chief Executive of JCN Consulting, Mrs Julie Chi-Nwaoha, said the anniversary was an opportunity to recognise the contributions of stakeholders, readers, partners and road users who had supported the brand over the years.

“This is not just about me; it is about every road user, every stakeholder, every reader who has believed in our brand. Thirty years on the highway is by God’s grace and the support of great people who believe in me,” she said.

Chi-Nwaoha added that the organisation intended to use the milestone to celebrate its achievements, reflect on its journey and project the future of safe and sustainable mobility in Nigeria.

The management said media partners, sponsors and well-wishers had begun indicating interest in supporting the anniversary, which is expected to provide a platform for discussions on the country’s highway development and transport safety priorities.

The event marks three decades of the publication’s engagement with highway issues and its advocacy for safer roads and improved mobility across Nigeria and Africa.
Media partners, sponsors and well-wishers are already indicating support of this historic celebration.
