Avoid Kara Bridge Now | FRSC Advises Alternative Routes After Fatal Multiple Crashes Lagos

The Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC Lagos Sector Command, has advised motorists to use alternative routes as rescue operations continue following two separate crashes on Kara Bridge along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway in the early hours of today.

The first crash occurred around 12:05 a.m. on the outbound lane towards Ibadan. Five articulated trucks and one Toyota Sienna were involved. Preliminary findings point to speed violation and loss of control as the cause.Casualties includes 7 adult males involved. 1 confirmed dead – body still trapped under a heavily loaded truck- 1 injured – 5 escaped unhurt

Due to the position of the truck, heavy-duty equipment is required to recover the body.While rescue efforts were ongoing, a second crash happened at 3:15 a.m. on the inbound lane towards Lagos.

A Mazda commercial bus suffered brake failure and crashed. The driver sustained serious injuries and was rushed to the Lagos State Accident and Emergency Centre by FRSC responders.Current Situation FRSC, LASEMA and other emergency agencies are on ground working to evacuate the crashed vehicles, to Recover the trapped victim , Clear the obstruction and Restore free flow of traffic.

FRSC ADVISORY USE ALTERNATIVE ROUTES The Lagos Sector Commander, Corps Commander Kehinde Ganiyu Hamzat, sympathizes with the victims’ families and urges patience and cooperation at the scene. Motorists are strongly advised to avoid the Kara – Ojodu Berger corridor until further notice. Alternative Routes Going to Ibadan from Lagos Divert through Ikorodu – Sagamu route Coming into Lagos to Use Lekki-Epe Expressway or Ikorodu – Sagamu Expressway Safety .

FRSC is also urging drivers, especially of articulated trucks and commercial buses ensure vehicles are mechanically sound before any trip. Check your brakes avoid unnecessary night journeys.If you must drive at night and must reduce speed, keep safe distance, avoid dangerous overtaking, and rest when fatigued. Poor visibility + fatigue = high risk.”The FRSC remains committed to the safety of all road users and will continue to work with emergency agencies to restore normalcy as quickly as possible,” the Command stated
