NADDC partners OANDO Clean Energy on Vehicle Electrification

NADDC TO COLLABORATE WITH OANDO CLEAN ENERGY ON VEHICLE ELECTRIFICATION

In a strategic move aimed at propelling Nigeria’s automotive sector to greater heights, the National Automotive Design and Development Council (NADDC) and Oando Clean Energy are set to forge closer ties on Vehicle Electrification.

Oando Clean Energy Executive Vice President, Ademola Ogumbanjo and Senior Vice President Alero Balogun, recently paid a Courtsey visit to the NADDC office, the purpose of the visit signifies a significant step towards decarbonizing Nigeria’s public transport system and embracing sustainable transportation solutions, particularly through the adoption of hydrogen fuel vehicles.

Speaking in the meeting, Mr. Ademola Ogumbanjo, clarified the urgency of transitioning towards renewable energy sources to strengthen energy security in Africa. He highlighted Oando Clean Energy’s research efforts concluding in a sustainable transport project design, aimed at alleviating Nigeria’s energy challenges while propelling economic growth.

Responding, the Director General, NADDC, Mr. Joseph Osanipin expressed profound appreciation for the initiative stressing the importance of collaboration in addressing pressing environmental concerns and advancing the automotive industry within Africa.

Osanipin emphasized the need for synergy between NADDC, OANDO Clean Energy and other relevant stakeholders in stimulating the widespread adoption and implementation of electric vehicle technology in Nigeria’s public transportation network, which in turn would elevate the economy through the growth of the automotive sector.

The commitment for collaboration and mutual support sets a promising precedent not only for Nigeria’s automotive industry but also for the broader goal of achieving sustainable development and combating climate change in Africa .
