Kara Bridge Chaos: Brake Failure Triggers Multi-Vehicle Crash, Second Accident Compounds Lagos-Ibadan Gridlock

Commuters on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway faced hours of delays this tod

a 40-foot container truck suffered brake failure at Kara Bridge, crashing into highway dividers and several vehicles.

The incident, which occurred in the early hours, left the highway partially blocked and triggered a chain of slow-moving traffic stretching several kilometers.

As responders worked to clear the Kara scene, a second crash was reported near Mowe, compounding the gridlock and trapping motorists between the two points.The *Lagos State Traffic Management Authority, LASTMA*, has advised motorists to seek alternative routes.

Those traveling to Ibadan have been urged to use Ikorodu Road through Sagamu, while Lagos-bound drivers were told to approach Kara with caution.Officials from FRSC, LASTMA and the Nigeria Police are currently on ground to manage traffic and evacuate damaged vehicles.

This latest incident adds to growing concerns about truck safety and highway management on one of Nigeria’s busiest corridors.Motorists are advised to stay updated and prioritize safety.
