FRSC and University of Port Harcourt Forge Partnership for Road Safety

The Corps Marshal, Federal Road Safety Corps, Shehu Mohammed mni, today led a delegation on a courtesy visit to the Vice Chancellor of the University of Port Harcourt, Professor Abraham Onwunari Georgewill.

The visit was aimed at inviting the Vice Chancellor to the FRSC 2025 Ember Months National Townhall Meeting and exploring partnership opportunities in the area of road safety research. The Corps Marshal emphasised that research-driven solutions remain vital to reducing road traffic crashes, transforming negative driving behaviours, and building a safer motoring culture across the nation.

As part of the visit, the Corps Marshal also inspected a newly approved Drivers’ Training Proficiency Centre for the University, an initiative designed to advance drivers’ education and safety awareness among students and staff of the institution.

In his response, the Vice Chancellor applauded the Corps Marshal for his visionary leadership and historic visit—the first ever by a Corps Marshal to the institution. He assured that the University of Port Harcourt is fully open to collaborate with the FRSC in advancing research, innovation, and knowledge-sharing initiatives that will help actualise the Corps’ mandate of safer roads and fuller lives for all Nigerians.
