Enhancing Road Safety in Lagos: FRSC Inaugurates Special Marshals


The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) Lagos State Sector Command recently marked a significant milestone in its efforts to enhance road safety in the state. Corps Commander Kehinde G. Hamzat, the Sector Commander, inaugurated a new batch of Special Marshals at the Nigerian Shippers Council (NSC) in a ceremony attended by key stakeholders.

The event was graced by the presence of the Executive Secretary of the NSC, Mr. Pius Ukeyima Akutah, who was ably represented by the Director of Strategic Planning, Mr. Rotimi Babatunde Anifowose. Other notable attendees included the State Coordinator of Special Marshals, Pastor Olusegun Akitan, and several other dignitaries.

In his welcome address, the Director of Inland Transport warmly welcomed the Sector Commander and his delegation, expressing appreciation for the representative of the Executive Secretary and other esteemed guests. He provided a brief overview of the Nigerian Shippers Council and the establishment of the Special Marshal unit within the organization, highlighting the importance of collaboration in promoting road safety.

The highlight of the event was the administration of the Special Marshal Induction Oath to the newly inducted marshals by the Sector Legal Officer, ACC Ayodele Ajayi. This marked a significant step in the marshals’ journey to serve as beacons of road safety in their communities.

The inauguration of these Special Marshals underscores the FRSC’s commitment to enhancing road safety in Lagos State. By partnering with key stakeholders and empowering Special Marshals, the FRSC aims to reduce road crashes and promote a culture of safety on Nigerian roads.
