A major national Campaign targets behavioural change to protect residents and tourists,
The national campaign to make road travel safer and boost tourism confidence has been launched in Accra with the unveiling of the Road Travel Safety and Tourism Project.
The five-year initiative is being led by the Ghana Tourism Authority Ex-Staff Association [GHATEX] in collaboration with the National Road Safety Authority [NRSA], the Ghana Tourism Authority [GTA], and the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts [MOTCCA].
According to the organisers, the project will use sustained public education and behavioural change campaigns to promote responsible road use among drivers, commuters, and pedestrians.
To reach communities across the country, the campaign will deploy animated videos, drama sketches, and multilingual educational messages tailored to local audiences.
Speaking at the launch, project partners said the goal is to reduce road crashes while creating a safer travel environment for residents, domestic tourists, and international visitors.“Together, we can make every road journey safer,” the partners stated.
The Road Travel Safety and Tourism Project will run for five years and will include community outreaches, media activations, and partnerships with transport unions and tourism stakeholders nationwide.
