Transport stakeholders this afternoon undertook a guided tour of the Traffic Management Centre for Greater Gaborone to assess its operational readiness ahead of full deployment.

The tour gave participants first-hand insight into the Centre’s systems, monitoring capabilities, and emergency preparedness.Officials said a clear responsibility matrix has been put in place to guide the Centre’s operations.

The matrix defines roles across traffic monitoring, incident response, data management, and traffic enforcement to ensure coordinated action and improved road safety.“The Centre is designed to enable real-time monitoring and faster response to traffic incidents across Greater Gaborone,” an official said during the tour.

The Traffic Management Centre forms a key component of the broader Centralized Traffic Control for Greater Gaborone project, which aims to modernize traffic operations in the capital and surrounding areas.

The Authorities noted that full rollout of the system is expected in the coming months following final testing and stakeholder engagements.
